On tonight’s edition of WWE NXT, it was announced that at the upcoming NXT TakeOver: WarGames event, the first-ever Women’s WarGames Match will take place.

The match was made official by NXT General Manager William Regal following the retention of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship by The Kabuki Warriors over the duo of Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox. After the match, a brawl broke out between Kai, Nox, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Candice LeRae, and Io Shirai. This led to multiple referees and security personnel rushing to the ring to break up the brawl before Regal saying that he had “a very simple solution” to what was occurring and announcing the Women’s WarGames Match.

Despite the match being announced by Regal, the teams for the match itself were not officially announced.
