Lance Archer defeated Juice Robinson for the vacant IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at Monday’s King of Pro-Wrestling. This will be Archer's first run with a singles title in New Japan Pro-Wrestling since joining back in 2014.

As reported earlier, Jon Moxley was due to defend against Robinson, but due to Typhoon Hagibis he was unable to travel to Japan.

NJPW has a rule whereby they will strip a competitor of a title if they are unable to attend an advertised title defense, and thus Moxley had to vacate the title in accordance with that rule.
