At tonight’s WWE Stomping Grounds event, Kofi Kingston defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE Championship.

Contested inside a steel cage, Ziggler was in the process of making his way out of the cage by crawling; however, Kingston was able to secure the victory and retain the title by running towards the cage door and leaping over Ziggler in order to reach the floor.

Following the match, Kingston was congratulated by fellow New Day members Big E and Xavier Woods, and in a post-match interview with Charly Caruso, Kingston stated that he did what he said he would do by walking out as champion.
