On tonight’s edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, Rey Mysterio officially relinquished the United States Championship to Samoa Joe due to suffering a shoulder injury back at the recent Money in the Bank event, where Mysterio initially defeated Joe to win the title despite controversy surrounding the finish of the match.

As Mysterio was about to relinquish the title, he was interrupted by Joe, who accused Mysterio of actually relinquishing the title due to not actually pinning both of Joe’s shoulders to win the match.

As Mysterio was leaving the ring after relinquishing the title, he was attacked by Joe. Joe then held the title up in the air as Mysterio was being helped to the back by officials.
