NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa is currently dealing with a bad neck injury will require surgery.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Ciampa will undergo surgery in a few days time. Meltzer also noted it would be a "long, long time" before we see Ciampa back in the ring.

Ciampa was expected to make his next title defense against Johnny Gargano at the NXT TakeOver: New York event takes place on Friday, April 5, 2019 in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center.

Plans will now obviously change now that Ciampa has to drop the belt.
