Ring of Honor Wrestling Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai will be taking on young upstart Tasha Steelz in a non-title Proving Ground Match at ROH Philadelphia Excellence next Saturday, August 25th.

Since becoming the first-ever Women of Honor Champion at Supercard of Honor in front of the biggest crowd in ROH history, Sumie Sakai has taken on all comers, taking the championship across the globe, and accumulating the best record in ROH, male or female, in that time period.

Sumie’s success has surprised everyone but the veteran herself who has become the rock of the division and the gold standard. The Women of Honor Champion will be in action in Philadelphia in a Proving Ground match with one of the fastest-rising stars in wrestling, trained by Damian Adams, the trainer who brought Deonna Purrazzo and Karen Q. to prominence, Tasha Steelz!

Tasha Steelz is another graduate of Damian Adams, a trainer who quickly has become among the premier trainers in pro wrestling, seeing stars like Deonna Purrazzo and Karen Q. rapidly rise up the international ranks. And Tasha may be his most promising pupil yet!

Very early in her career, Tasha made her official Women of Honor debut pinning Brandi Lauren in the opening contest of the Women of Honor event in the 2017 Supercard of Honor preshow. With the ability to block out distractions of the then-biggest crowd in ROH history, Tasha used a butterfly suplex to put Brandi away and win the match.

Tasha has since taken over the independent scene and is one of the most talented independent athletes in the world. Tasha gets her shot to prove she belongs in Women of Honor when she takes on Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai! If Tasha can beat Sumie or last 15 minutes, Tasha will earn a future Women of Honor Championship match!
