Former WWE Superstar Marc Mero Speaking At Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast In Peoria Illinois

Former WWE superstar Marc Mero will be the keynote speaker at the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Peoria Civic Center. Tickets are still available.

Mero spoke with 1470 and 100.3 WMBD’s Greg and Dan. He said that he reached the pinnacle of sports-entertainment success, lost it all, and dealt with a lot personal pain along the way.

“I lost my little brother and sister, they died at 21. My mom died at 58. My dad died while I was holding him in my arms. I lost over 30 friends in the wrestling industry, most of them died from bad choices.”

During his own dark times, he admitted to being addicted to drugs and drinking.  He now speaks to groups worldwide about how his relationship with God turned his life around.

“I’ve had a gun to my head…a part of my story that I’m going to share at the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. My suicidal thoughts, and what I went through, and how my life was forever changed from making a choice to build a relationship with God.

It should be noted Mero wrote a book titled “How to be the Happiest Person on the Planet” in 2010. Mero is the founder of the nonprofit organization, Champion of Choices. He has shared his story of faith with school children and groups worldwide.
