The match order for WWE Extreme Rules did change very last minute on Sunday evening, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.

The event was meant to open with the Iron Man match and have Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley close the show in the main event. The match order at the last hour and possibly as a directive from Vince McMahon, he would have at least signed off on it, but he was not backstage at the event although he had regular communication with those running the show.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reports that the change in main event was likely due to fears that fans would not take well to it and thus the Iron Man was put in its place.
