WWE.com announced earlier today that Shinsuke Nakamura will be unable to challenge Jeff Hardy for the United States Championship on tonight's edition of SmackDown Live due to injury. As a result, Hardy is scheduled to issue a United States Championship Open Challenge on tonight's program.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the injury that Nakamura suffered did not happen in the ring. He worked a WWE live event yesterday and was then reportedly bitten in the leg by a police dog somewhere in the arena.

No word yet on how or why this happened, or if Nakamura will be pursuing any legal action. We'll post more details if they become available.
