WWE Backlash 2018 Kick-Off

BAYLEY VS RUBY RIOTT

Bayley and Ruby lock up and Bayley goes to work with a standing wristlock but it's countered by Ruby. Side headlock takedown by Bayley. Ruby with a side headlock and shoulderblock to Bayley off the ropes. Sunset flip on Ruby and a series of nearfalls on Ruby. Irish whip and Ruby runs into an elbow. Armdrag off the second rope into a pinning combination. Ruby with a right hand and she rams Bayley's head into the turnbuckle.

Camera pans to the backstage area where Sasha Banks is looking on. Irish whip into the corner and Bayley gets hung up on the top rope landing on the apron. Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan with a distraction allowing Ruby to take control

Ruby with a chinlock on Bayley and Bayley gets to her feet. Bayley with elbow strikes and Ruby face plants Bayley delivering elbows to the back of the neck. Knee strike by Ruby. Ruby back to the chinlock. Bayley gets to her feet fighting out of the hold but Ruby drives Bayley face first into the turnbuckle.

Ruby with a knee to the back of the neck choking Bayley out on the ropes and Sarah Logan with a cheap shot from the outside as Sasha continues to look on. Bayley blocks another head shot sending Ruby face first into the turnbuckle. Ruby jumps up onto the rope and buries Bayley face first into the turnbuckle.

Bayley tries to fight back as Ruby works over the neck. Bayely escapes the hold and a right hand to Ruby. Bayley goes up to the top rope and connects with a crossbody. Clotheslines by Bayley and a belly to back suplex.

Irish whip but Ruby hangs onto the rope reversing it and Bayley takes out Sarah Logan. Bayley up to the top rope drops the flying elbow onto Ruby and only a 2 count as Ruby kicks out. Liv Morgan on the apron and Bayley takes her out but off the distraction Ruby connects with the Riott Kick for the three count

Welcome to WWE Backlash 2018 and we are live from the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey and tonight we have 5 championships on the line including US, Intercontinental, Raw and Smackdown Women's Championship and the WWE Championship and we kick things off with Intercontinental Championship action as challenger The Miz makes his way out to the ring

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP: SETH ROLLINS VS THE MIZ

The match starts out with a series of chain wrestling as Rollins has a hold of Miz' arm. Miz with a kick and punch and Miz stomps away at the champion. Miz bounces Rollins' head off the turnbuckle taking control of the match. Irish whip reversed by Rollins who connects with a dropkick. Chop to Miz. Irish whip by Seth into the corner and a running forearm to Miz. Rollins with a right hand from the apron and Miz connects with a kick sending Rollins to the floor.

Miz bounces Rollins' head off the announce table and he drives Seth into the apron. Rollins is rolled back into the ring and a low kick to the face for a nearfall. Chinlock on Rolins. Rollins gets to his feet fighting back

Irish whip reversed by Miz who connects with a knee. Miz with knee strikes to the back and another chinlock but Rollins gets to his feet. Nearfall by Rollins but Miz plants Rollins with a DDT. Running knee to the back of the neck by Miz. Miz plants Rollins face first and Miz goes back on the attack but stuns Miz sending him face first into the turnbuckle. Slingblade by Rollins and a clothesline sends Miz over the ropes to the outside. Suicide dive through the ropes to the outsie

Skull Crushing Finale countered by Rollins. Blockbuster from the top rope by Rollins. Rollins with a right hand and flying clothesline from the apron. Rollins is sent sailing over the ropes landing on the apron and Miz pulls him off the apron

Miz with a crossbody and Rollins rolls through for a nearfall. Rollins goes to the top rope and lands a frogsplash but only gets a count of 2.

Rollins looking for the stomp but Miz rolls to the outside. Miz misses with a clothesline but Rollins connects sending him over the ropes. Rollins off the ropes runs into a left hand from the challenger. Miz climbs up onto the apron looking for the snap DDT on the apron but Rollins blocks. Boot to the side of the face by Miz and Rollins fires back with punches. Rollins goes for a kick but Miz moves out of the way and Rollins hits the ring post. Rollins rolls back into the ring and Miz locks in the figure four

Rollins reverses it and Miz reverses it back. Miz gets to his feet and once more goes for the figure four leglock but Rollins kicks him away as they trade punches. Miz goes after knee. SCF countered by Rollins and the enziguri to Miz. SCF misses the second time but third time's the charm as Rollins' knee gives out but the challenger only gets a 2 count.

Miz with the running clothesline in the corner and Miz going to the top rope. Rollins meets him there catching Miz with a right hand. Rollins goes to the top rope and hooks Rollins up for a superplex but Miz blocks it sending Rollins to the mat. Rollins back up hits the superplex. Rollins sets up for another but the knee gives out again. Miz with another SCF on Rollins and again only a count of 2

Miz picks Rollins up and sits him on the top rope landing a right hand. Miz on the top rope with Rollins looking for yet another SCF but Rollins fights out of it. Rollins on the second rope connects with Miz' face but lands on the bad knee. Miz rolls Rollins up but Seth rolls through and rolls Miz. Miz kicks out and Rollins hits the Curb Stomp for the three count

The winner of the match and still Intercontinental Champion: Seth Rollins

RAW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP: NIA JAX VS ALEXA BLISS

Alexa goes after the knee. Sleeper on Nia but Nia flips her over to the mat. Alexa goes to the eyes. Slap by Alexa blocked by Nia who twists Alexa's hand and connects with a headbutt. Splash in the corner by Nia and Alexa is sent to the outside.

Nia goes to bring Alexa back in but Alexa goes after the knee. Kick to the head by the challenger and Alexa with a knee to the back of the neck choking Nia out on the ropes. Alexa goes to the outside and bounces Nia's face off the mat and slaps her. Kick by Alexa and another slap.

Alexa goes for a DDT but Nia sets up for a Samoan Drop. Alexa counters and Nia hits a clothesline. Rolling senton misses as Alexa rolls out of the way. Right hands to Nia and again she bounces Nia's face off the mat. Series of right hands. Alexa off the ropes is caught by Nia who goes foer the Samoan Drop. Nia looking to sit her on the top rope but Alexa gets out of the hold. Front facelock by Alexa but Nia drives Alexa in the corner breaking the hold.

Alexa on the top rope launches Alexa across the ring with an iconosplash. Running clothesline in the corner by Nia. Nia sets Alexa in place and goes to the second rope but Alexa dumps Nia over the top rope to the floor.

Alexa goes to the outside bringing Nia to the steps dropping her face first off the ring steps. Alexa slides back into the ring. Alexa tries to get Nia back into the ring and Alexa rolls her over for a nearfall.

Series of right hands by Alexa. Alexa off the ropes is caught by Nia. Nia places Alexa on her shoulders heading towards the corner. Alexa counters and goes after the hamstring as Nia falls to the mat.

Alexa sends Nia face first into the turnbuckle. Nia counters Twisted Bliss and hits the Samoan Drop for the three count

The winner of the match and still Raw Women's Champion: Nia Jax

Post Match: Nia says this victory means everything and Alexa's moment of bliss is over and this is for everyone who's felt less than and has been bullied and who wants to be ordinary. Be extraordinary and you should never change for anyone and she makes no apology for who she is. This is her and tells everyone to be a star and in the end a bully always gets her ass kicked

Tonight, Roman Reigns will close his eyes and everytime he does he sees Joe's face and will admit his failures and tonight Joe turns the Big Dog into a whimpering puppy

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP: JEFF HARDY VS RANDY ORTON

Side headlock by Hardy. Orton with an irish whip and Jeff with a shoulderblock to Orton. Waistlock by Hardy and Orton with an elbow. Side headlock by The Viper. Irish whip by the champion and Orton with a shoulderblock.

Jawbreaker by Jeff and a dropkick. Orton is sent to the outside crashing into the barricade and Hardy launches himself into Orton. Hardy rolls Orton back in and Randy with a kick to the knee and a standing dropkick. Nearfall by Orton. Twist Of Fate countered and Orton is rocked by an elbow but Orton plants him on the top rope.

Jeff trapped in a Tree Of Woe as Orton puts the boots to the champion. Right hands by Orton. Uppercut by Orton. And Hardy falls from the apron to the floor. Hardy takes out Orton.

The Charismatic Enigma bounces Orton's head off the ring steps and sends him back into the ring. Hardy on the apron and Orton catches the champion with a standing dropkick. Orton with a series of suplexes across the barricade

Nearfall by Orton on Hardy. Garvin Stomp by Orton and he hangs the champion out across the top rope. Chinlock by Orton. orton with a body scissors around Hardy. Hardy pulls himself up to his feet. Shots to the midsection and Jeff breaks the hold. Inverted atomic drop and crashes into Orton's midsection and a dropkick floors The Viper.

Hardy off the ropes hits Whisper In The Wind. Twist Of Fate countered. RKO countered. Orton with a powerslam. Orton looking for the DDT but Hardy counters with an inverted heel kick. Hardyiac Arrest misses as Orton moves out of the way. Orton pulls Hardy through the middle ropes and plants him with the DDT.

Orton setting up for an RKO but Hardy too quick gets to his feet and hits the Twist OF Fate going up to the top rope connecting with the Swanton Bomb for the three count

Elias is out in the ring and he asks everyone who wants to walk with Elias and says he's good friends with Bruce Springsteen and Springsteen calls him The Boss and he's done alot of great things

Elias goes to perform his song but the crowd keeps making noise and he teases leaving. Elias is then interrupted by The New Day who come out and play their drum and trombone. Elias tells them to stop and says maybe one day they can open for Elias but tonight is Elias' night. The lights go out and he is ready to perform a second time but is interrupted by Rusev Day. Elias asks what they're doing out here and Rusev says they're doing whatever they want and he's the only athlete who celebrates a holiday every day. Elias then says today is not Rusev Day and it is not The New Day.

A third attempt but he is then interrupted by No Way Jose. Elias asks for the music to be cut and says he doesn't need to see a bunch of freaks out at ringside. A fourth time is interrupted by Bobby Roode who lays Elias out with the Glorious DDT and No Way Jose's conga line dances their way back up the ramp celebrating

DANIEL BRYAN VS BIG CASS

Bryan unloads with kicks to Cass' leg. Cass misses with a right hand and Bryan continues the attack. Bryan trying to take out the left leg but Cass with a clubbing blow across the back. The crowd begins a "We Want Enzo" chant and Cass is sent to the outside. Bryan with a dropkick and a running knee from the apron sends Cass into the barricade. Back in the ring, missile dropkick to Cass. Cass down on one knee as Bryan hits the Yes Kicks. Bryan goes for the big kick but Cass plants him with a chokeslam standing with fist raised in the air celebrating.

Big chop to Bryan and another clubbing blow to the back. Cass as Bryan on the ropes delivering another chop. Bryan trying to fight back. Cass picks Daniel up and slams him. Empire elbow dropped on Bryan and Cass unloading with right hands

Cass picks Bryan up in a modified backbreaker. Drop toehold by Bryan as Cass' face hits the turnbuckle. Yes Kicks in the corner and Bryan with the running dropkicks in the corner. Cass plants Bryan face first and a huge clothesline to Bryan. Nearfall on Bryan as he walks over Bryan. Cass with a series of clotheslines to Bryan and he misses with the big boot and Bryan looking for the Yes Lock.

Clubbing blows across the side of the head by Bryan as he manages to get the Yes Lock on Cass for the submission

Post Match: Big Cass attacks Daniel Bryan

SMACKDOWN WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP: CHARLOTTE VS CARMELLA

Charlotte with a big boot to Carmella sending her to the outside. Carmella asks for her title and begins to leave but Charlotte stops her and rolls her back into the ring. Nearfall and Charlotte grabs a leg delivering a kick to the midsection. Series of nearfalls and Carmella looks to leave again but Charlotte pulls her to the center of the ring. Carmella to the outside. Crossbody misses as Charlotte lands on her feet

Kick to Charlotte and back in the ring a nearfall by the champion. Chinlock on Charlotte. Charlotte gets to her feet momentarily breaking the hold but Carmella goes back to the chinlock. Charlotte back to her feet again hits a backpack stunner. Slam by Charlotte but Carmella counters dropping the challenger.

Surfboard being applied by the champion. Charlotte gets to her feet delivering boots to the midsection breaking the hold. Backbreaker and standing STO. Charlotte witht he flair chops to Carmella. Belly to back suplex by Charlotte as Carmella rolls to the outside. Charlotte with a knee to the back of the neck. Charlotte goes for the boot but misses and Carmella grabs the hair pulling her down on the apron as Charlotte hits her head on the hardest part of the ring

Carmella stomping away at Charlotte. Charlotte with a spear out of the corner as Carmella momentarily celebrates with the moonwalk. Code Of Silence applied by Carmella. Charlotte gets to her feet, Carmella with a counter into a nearfall. Boot by Charlotte to Carmella

Figure Four countered. Charlotte on the top rope misses with the moonsault. Carmella with a kick to the left knee and a roll up for the three count

AJ STYLES VS SHINSUKE NAKAMURA

Styles pulls Nakamura to the outside and sends him crashing into the barricade. Nakamura is sent crashing into the announce table then back into the ring. Styles bounces Nakamura's head off the turnbuckle. Right hand and a snapmare to the challenger. Snap suplex by Styles

Shinsuke is sent into the corner and Styles runs into a boot. Backbreaker by Styles to Nakamura. Side headlock by Nakamura and a right hand to Styles. Shinsuke off the ropes. AJ with a leap frog and Styles misses with the dropkick as Shinsuke holds onto the ropes. Dropkick connects second time around sending Nakamura to the outside and AJ bounces his head off the barricade. Irish whip into the barricade. Big splash to Shinsuke. Styles misses with the forearm as Nakamura moves out of the way

Stiff forearm shot by the challenger and Styles is sent crashing into the ring stairs. Nakamura lays Styles across the apron delivering a knee to the head and another one to the back of the neck.

Series of nearfalls by Nakamura. Shinsuke stomps away at AJ and delivers kicks in the corner. Shinsuke choking Styles out with a boot under the chin. Kneedrop on Styles. Styles with chops and Shinsuke with a kick as AJ falls to the mat. Back body drop off the irish whip by Nakamura. Knee strikes to the side of the head by Shinsuke.

Front facelock by Shinsuke and Styles counters trying to break the hold and Nakamura kicks Styles out of the ring and sends him into the barricade. Styles is sent over the barricade into the timekeeper's area. Nakamura with kicks and then rolls him back into the ring wearing AJ down.

Nakamura has the Dragon Sleeper locked on in the middle of the ring and AJ gets out of it. Nakamura lifts Styles who flips over Shinsuke's shoulder landing on his feet. AJ on the top rope and Shinsuke goes back to work on the ribs. Shinsuke on the second rope. The kinchasa connects and Nakamura plants Styles with the Landslide

Styles starting to fight back but Shinsuke back in control delivers a reverse exploder onto the steel chair. Shinsuke setting up for the kinchasa but Styles fires a steel chair at Nakamura's knee.

Shinsuke with a kick as Styles is staggering against the ropes and Styles rolls through locking the Calf Crusher in on Nakamura and Shinsuke reverses into a triangle. Styles gets to his feet looking for the Styles Clash. Right hand sends Nakamura to the outside.

Styles with a forearm to the back of the neck and picks Nakamura up on his shoulder planting Shinsuke. Pele kick to Nakamura. Styles sets up for the Styles Clash but Shinsuke with a low blow. AJ fires back with a low blow of his own. AJ and Nakamura trading punches and simultaneous low blows sends both men to the mat

The referee counts to 10 and neither man could answer the count of 10 and AJ Styles retains the WWE Championship

The match ended in a No Contest

BOBBY LASHLEY AND BRAUN STROWMAN VS KEVIN OWENS AND SAMI ZAYN

Lashley and Zayn start things off and Zayn with a clean break and he backs into the ropes to avoid Lashley. Zayn with a side headlock. Lashley with a shoulder tackle and Zayn gets to his corner. Owens tags in and Lashley with a waist lock takedown. Lashley sends Owens into the turnbuckles and follows with an Irish whip and shoulder. Lashley with another Irish whip and Owens with a boot. Lashley with a neck breaker. Owens with a punch and Zayn tags in. Lashley with a clothesline. Lashley with an Irish whip and clothesline followed by an elbow. Lashley with a punch and Zayn goes to the floor.

Lashley sends Zayn into the ringside barrier as they make their way to the announce table. Zayn's head is slammed into the announce table. Lashley hits Owens on the apron and Zayn drops Lashley on the top rope. Owens tags in and hits a back senton on the floor. They return to the ring and Zayn tags in and punches Lashley. Zayn punches Lashley and applies a reverse chin lock.

Lashley with punches to get out of the hold but Zayn keeps Lashley from making the tag and Lashley with a flatline. Both men are down. Owens tags in and kicks Lashley before he can make the tag. Owens goes for a back senton but Lashley gets his knees up. Strowman makes the tag and he clotheslines Owens twice. Strowman with an Irish whip and splash into the corner. Zayn thinks about interfering and he goes to the floor. Strowman chases after Zayn and Strowman with a running shoulder tackle on Owens and then he knocks Zayn down. Strowman with a clothesline to Owens.

Owens is sent back into the ring and Strowman misses a shoulder into the corner and hits the ring post. Zayn tags in and sets for the Helluva Kick but Strowman catches him and Zayn goes to the floor. Zayn tries to go into the crowd but Owens stops him. Zayn wants to go up the ramp and Owens stops him. Owens says they stay and fight. Zayn sends Owens into the ring and Strowman with a forearm to the chest.

Zayn wants to leave and Owens sends him back into the ring. Zayn tries to pull Owens back into the ring. Zayn slaps Owens and Zayn apologizes. Zayn goes back to the floor. Strowman splashes Owens and Lashley with a spinebuster. Lashley with a delayed vertical suplex on Owens for the three count.

The winners of the match: Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman

Post Match: Strowman tries to bring Zayn back into the ring but he stays on the floor. Strowman with a power slam to Owens.

Strowman sends Zayn into the ring and he is caught between Lashley and Strowman. Strowman gets Zayn up for a running power slam.

ROMAN REIGNS VS SAMOA JOE

Joe attacks Reigns before the bell rings and Joe send Roman to the floor. Roman punches Joe on the floor and Joe punches back. Joe sends Roman into the ringside barrier and then Joe sends Roman through the announce table with a uranage. Joe picks up Roman and tosses him over another announce table. Joe sends Roman over the third announce table at ringside.

Joe goes back to the floor and he grabs Roman and sends him into the ring. The referee checks on Roman and he tells Joe to stay in the corner.

The referee starts the match and Joe with jabs in the corner. The referee warns Joe and he backs off. Joe with another jab followed by a snap mare, chop to the back, kick to the chest and knee drop for a near fall. Joe with a key lock. Joe sends Roman to the mat. Joe works on the neck. Joe tells Roman this is the pain he talked about and he tells Roman he can go away and it will end. Joe with elbows to the neck and he continues to work on the neck. Joe with a kick to the arm and he returns to the neck.

Roman with an elbow and punches but Joe with an Irish whip and elbow into the corner followed by an enzuigiri for a near fall. Joe with jabs and a knee to the head. Joe returns to the neck. Joe with a rear chin lock and he has the left arm trapped with Joe's leg. Roman with punches and it backs Joe into the corner. Joe sends Roman to the apron and drops Roman on the top rope. Joe with a suicide dive forearm. Joe gets a near fall when they return to the ring.

Joe with an elbow to the collarbone and he applies a key lock. Roman gets back to his feet and he punches Joe. Joe and Roman exchange punches and forearms. Roman with a boot to the head and Joe falls to the floor. Roman goes to the floor and he sets for the Drive By and hits it. They return to the ring and Roman with two clotheslines followed by NeverEnding Story. Joe with a reverse atomic drop followed by a running boot to the head and a back senton for a near fall.

Roman blocks a uranage with elbows. Roman with a spinebuster. Joe blocks a Superman punch and applies the Coquina Clutch. Roman sends Joe into the ropes and goes to the floor. Roman goes for the Drive By and Joe with a clothesline. Roman gets a near fall. Roman with a Superman punch for a near fall. Roman sets for the spear and Joe with an enzuigiri. Roman with a spear but Joe gets his foot on the rope to stop the referee's count.

Roman runs into a kick and Joe with the Coquina Clutch. Roman falls back and gets a near fall. Joe misses a charge into the corner. Roman with an O'Connor Roll and Joe with a Coquina Clutch on Roman with body scissors. Roman is losing consciousness but Roman gets a second wind and gets to the ropes. Joe grabs Roman by the throat and sends him into the corner. Joe puts Roman on the turnbuckles for a Muscle Buster. Roman with punches and he leaps over Joe and hits a spear for the three count.

The winner of the match: Roman Reigns
