Bruno Sammartino Turned Down Major Television Role Because It Featured Swearing

Bruno Sammartino was the longest reigning WWE Champion in history, a box-office draw and an inspiration to a generation of kids who grew up admiring The Italian Superman. There have been many great stories since his passing including how principled and grounded he was with many calling him a true gentleman.

Such the gentleman, Sammartino is believed to have turned down many movie and television roles at the hight of his career, including appearing on the smash-hit television show The Sopranos due to the swearing, reported by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.

"After his career he turned down a role on The Sopranos when he found out there was swearing on the show."
