WWE Chief Operating Officer and 14-time World Champion Paul "Triple H" Levesque spoke to the U.K.'sĀ IndependentĀ about WWE's female Superstars not appearing at this Friday'sĀ Greatest Royal RumbleĀ in Saudi Arabia:
āI understand that people are questioning it, but you have to understand that every culture is different and just because you donāt agree with a certain aspect of it, it doesnāt mean itās not a relevant culture. You canāt dictate to a country or a religion about how they handle things but,Ā having saidĀ that, WWE is at the forefront of a womenāsĀ evolutionĀ in the world and what you canāt do is affect changeĀ anywhereĀ by staying away from it.
"While, right now, women are not competing inĀ the event, we have had discussions about that and we believe and hope that, in the next few years they will be. That is a significantĀ culturalĀ shift in Saudi Arabia. The country is in the middle of a shift in how it is dealing with that ā the position is changing, andĀ rightsĀ are changing, as are the way women are handled and treated in society.
"We think thatās a great thing and weāre excited to be at the forefront of that change.ā
