Surprises in professional wrestling are few and far between in 2018 with social media, but WWE managed to keep one big surprise up their sleeve by having former WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio appear as an entrant in the Royal Rumble match this year. WWE was reportedly very impressed with how Mysterio looked and performed and there is an active drive within the company to have him return. 

It is believed at this stage in his career Mysterio would only return on a part-time deal.

During a recent interview with The Mirror, Mysterio spoke about the possibility of returning with WWE:

"I want to say that there is a big possibility that I will be back. [We’re] figuring out what the situation is, you know from both ends. But there is definitely a positive feedback on behalf of the fans, on behalf of the WWE staff and behalf of myself man. I think we’re possibly going to sit down and negotiate something where we can both work together and have a good time and enjoy"
