As was previously reported, new WWE United States Champion Dolph Ziggler appeared to have relinquished the U.S. Title on last night's SmackDown Live after he left the belt in the ring and walked away after declaring that the WWE Universe "wasn't worthy of him."

PWInsider.com reports that Ziggler will likely be kept off of television for at least a little while to sell the angle, but he will continue to perform at house shows.

No word yet on what they might end up doing with the U.S. Championship in Ziggler's absence.
