Ring of Honor Wrestling has issued the following:

The Best Wrestling on the Planet returns to the Alamo City on Friday, November 17 for Night One of Survival of the Fittest! Your favorite ROH stars will compete in a three-night tournament to determine the 2017 Survival of the Fittest winner. The winner of this year’s tournament will get the customary ROH World Title shot at a later date and etch their name in the history books! Seven out of ten men that have won have gone on to either win the championship with their title shot or do so at a later date – winning ROH’s preeminent tournament has proved it can launch careers!

The very first match signed for San Antonio, however, is a special Women of Honor clash! In Pittsburgh, the Women of Honor made history by appearing live for the first time on a ROH iPPV broadcast! In that six-woman Women of Honor tag team match, “The Virtuosa” picked up the victory with her signature Fujiwara armbar but that did not sit well with one of the members of her opposing team. The challenge was made and it has been accepted!

“THE VIRTUOSA” DEONNA PURRAZZO vs. BRITT BAKER

It was supposed to be a homecoming – Britt Baker returned to Women of Honor in her hometown of Pittsburgh. Known as one of the smartest wrestlers in the world, Baker, who is on track to become a dentist, teamed with Sumie Sakai and Faye Jackson to take on Deonna Purrazzo, Mandy Leon, and Jenny Rose. Deonna would lock in her signature Fujiwara Armbar on Faye who quickly tapped.

Britt did not figure into the decision and we would find out that Britt didn’t get what she wanted out of the six-woman match. No, she wanted to square off with who she and many others consider the best female wrestler in the world, Deonna.

And ROHWrestling.com can confirm that Deonna has accepted and the match is official! In San Antonio, Britt will get her wish going one on one with Deonna for the first time! Many may question Deonna taking this bout so shortly after her grueling bout against Karen Q. in Philadelphia while applauding Britt’s gumption in calling out one of the top stars.
