For the last couple week, Enzo Amore has been booked for the final segment of WWE Raw leaving many viewers to speculate why WWE has taken this strange decision, traditionally (at least for the last two decades) the closing match or segment for WWE television shows has been mostly reserved for main event caliber talent and moments.
WWE Management has recently looked at the numbers over the last few years and noticed viewers are more likely to change channels throughout the show resulting in a decrease in viewers for the third hour of Raw. The idea going forward is to fill the first two hours with the main event stars and moments and end the show on segments or matches that may not be of as much interest to viewers. The thinking is this will help retain viewer interest in the main storylines before fans switch over to Monday Night Football.
A similar format was used during the 1980's and early 90's for Saturday Night Main Event when main event talent appeared at the beginning of the show rather than the end, which featured the less important stuff.Â
WWE has also been focused on giving away "WrestleMania worthy" matches on television broadcasts to retain and stop viewers jumping over to Monday Night Football.
