The "shoot promo" involving Roman Reigns and John Cena during their contract signing on Monday's WWE Raw for their upcoming match at the No Mercy Pay-Per-View certainly wasn't expected and many are questioning as to whether Cena and Reigns really did shoot on each other. 

However, was can reveal that the whole promo was pretty much all scripted and Dave Meltzer confirmed this on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer noted that the company's long-term goal is having Roman Reigns at the top, that hasn't changed and this wasn't a burial. WWE officials felt this segment was the best thing to but it was totally scripted. Reigns did actually get lost once to which John Cena responded by saying, “it’s called a promo, if you wanna be on top you gotta learn how to do them” - that was probably the only unscripted part.

WWE is hoping to make Cena a true babyface going into his match against Reigns at No Mercy, but there is another theory they are trying to get people to feel sorry for Reigns by having him cut down so much.
