As previously announced, John Cena will be facing Shinsuke Nakamura on tonight's edition of WWE SmackDown LIVE, with the winner of that match advancing to this month's SummerSlam event to challenge Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship.

According to a report from PWInsider.com, the current plan is for Nakamura to win tonight's main event match against Cena and challenge Mahal for the title at SummerSlam. This is despite recent advertising on a SummerSlam poster featuring the current champions and challengers from both the Raw and SmackDown LIVE brands, which also featured Mahal, Cena, and Nakamura. This led many to believe that the WWE Championship match at the event would be a Triple Threat Match.
