On Monday night's edition of WWE Raw, it was announced that The Miz will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dean Ambrose at this coming Sunday night's Raw-exclusive Great Balls of Fire event.

The match was made after Miz stated to General Manager Kurt Angle that he would defend the title at the event. Angle then forced Miz to defend the title on Raw against Heath Slater, with the winner then advancing to Great Balls of Fire to defend the title against Ambrose. Miz would go on to win the match following ringside distractions by the "Miztourage".
