NJPW officially crowned their first ever IWGP United States Champion during the second night of the G1 Specials last night.

Kenny Omega and Tomohiro Ishii both advanced to the finals of the US Title Tournament and Kenny eventually won the belt by hitting his signature ‘One Winged Angel’ finishing move.

Cody appeared after the match with fans wondering if he would attack Omega but instead he hugging him and helping put the title around his waist. Omega delivered a promo about his struggles to reach this moment, his efforts to push NJPW to come to North America and promising to be back bigger in 2018.
