WWE NXT TakeOver: Chicago Results (5/20)

1. Eric Young of SAnitY vs. Roderick Strong

The opening match of the night will see Roderick Strong go one-on-one against the leader of SAnitY, Eric Young. SAnitY accompanies Young to the ring first and now here comes Strong. Roderick Strong did a sneak attack on the SAnitY members outside the ring and now it's Strong and Young going at it in the ring. Strong is on fire here. Strong hits a perfect Dropkick right to the face of Young and continues his relentless assault. Young turns things around with a Belly-to-Back Suplex and it's Young in control for now. Strong ended up outside the ring and Killian Dain hit him with a sick Crossbody which hurt Strong considerably. The referee apparently did not see this happen so the match continues with Young having the advantage now. Young tried to fly off the ropes but Roderick hit a big Dropkick. Strong hits a devastating Backbreaker followed by a knee to the jaw and then drops Young for a 2-count. Outside the ring now, Young hits Strong with the Wheelbarrow Neckbreaker outside of the ring. The referee starts counting them out but Eric rolls Strong inside the ring and got a 2-count. Young hits a picture-perfect Flying Elbow Drop but Strong still kicks out. Young tried to climb up top again but Strong hit him with a huge knee to the face that sends Young falling down on top of SAnitY. Young ran into the ropes but Strong once again knees him in the face, followed by a  Suplex transitioned into a Double Knee Backbreaker and Roderick Strong defeats Eric Young.

2. WWE United Kingdom Championship Match: Tyler Bate vs. "The Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne

The second match of the evening is for the WWE U.K. Championship. Tyler Bate defends against the dangerous and sadistic "Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne.

The legendary Jim Ross will be providing commentary for this match!

Dunne and Bate start out with some good technical grappling. A feeling out process here. Dunne rolls to the outside and Bate goes after him but Dunne was ready for it. Dunne just hit a Release Suplex which he calls the "X-Plex" to Bate on the ring apron. Dunne is now bending Bate's fingers backwards with that sick small joint manipulation which is illegal in both professional wrestling and mixed martial arts fighting. Bate turns things around momentarily with an Exploder Suplex. Bate is hitting Dunne with European Uppercuts now. Bate is in control for right now. But Pete Dunne just caught him in a Triangle Choke and was also hitting him with vicious elbows right to the skull. Tyler Bate displays his strength and power and lifts Dunne up and slams him down to get out of the Triangle Choke. The fans are chanting "This Is Awesome!" Airplane Spin from Tyler Bate. It lasted forever but Bate finally dropped Dunne but only got a 2-count. Bate tried to fly but Dunne caught him with a malicious elbow to the face and hit a Sit-Out X-Plex for a 2-count! Bate somehow managed to kick out! They had a flurry of stiff punches that bate got the better of but Dunne will not stay down! Bate just hit an amazing Clothesline off the ropes but Dunne survives. Bate went for the Tiger Driver, Dunne counters and goes for the Pumphandle Slam, Bate counters into a DDT! Unbelievable sequence there! Bate hits a Corkscrew 450 Splash but Pete Dunne kicks out! Tyler Bate tried to fly over the top ropes outside the ring but Dunne slammed him into the floor, rolled him back into the ring and hit the Pumphandle Flatliner that he calls The Bitter End. And "The Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne is the NEW WWE United Kingdom Champion!

3. NXT Women's Championship Triple Threat Match: Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross of SAnitY

Ruby Riot is out first, followed by Nikki Cross of SAnitY and then the NXT Women's Champion Asuka. the action is starting out fast and furious. Cross gets knocked out of the ring and it's Asuka and Ruby right now. Ruby tries to fly at Asuka but Cross tackles Ruby. Nikki is in control for the moment as the injured Ember Moon watches the action from the stands. Asuka is throwing kicks at Nikki now but Cross hits her in the midsection. Ruby tries to throw kicks at Asuka but Asuka catches her leg and Powerbombs her and immediately applies and Ankle Lock. The action has spilled outside the ring now. Back in the ring, Asuka hits a German Suplex on Ruby Riot. Asuka and Ruby double team Nikki but then Ruby immediately turns on Asuka. Asuka has the Asuka Lock on Ruby but Nikki hits a Splash to break it up. Nikki and Ruby both Clothesline Asuka outside the ring and now they're both trying to pin each other but neither one can quite get the advantage. Ruby had Nikki beaten but Asuka kicked Ruby in the face and pinned them both to retain the NXT Women's Championship.

4. NXT Championship Match: Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami

The challenger Hideo Itami enters the arena first. And now we have another truly "Glorious" entrance from the NXT Champion Bobby Roode. They lock up, Roode pushes Itami into the ropes and backs away. Roode went for a "Glorious" chant from the fans but Hideo picked him up for the GTS but Roode escapes and rolls out of the ring. Roode has Itami in the corner now but Itami hits Roode with a hard strike. Itami is hitting Roode with more strikes now. Roode just hit a Blockbuster Neckbreaker on Itami but Itami survives. Roode is in control now. He has Itami in the ropes. Roode hits two Clotheslines in the corner and then a Neckbreaker for a 2-count. Rear Chinlock now by Roode. Itami just hit a huge kick right to the face of Roode and Hideo is in the driver's seat now. Roode hurt his shoulder by trying to charge at Hideo in the corner. Hideo locks on a Fujiwara Armbar to inflict further damage. Roode went for another Blockbuster Neckbreaker but Hideo moves and hits a Falcon Arrow. Roode hits a Double R Spinebuster. Roode goes for the Glorious DDT but that left shoulder gave out on him. Hideo went for the GTS but Roode grabs the ropes to avoid it. They're outside the ring now. Hideo sends Roode shoulder-first into the steel steps and tried to Dropkick him but Roode moves so Hideo kicked the steps. They're both hurting right now. Hideo went for the GTS again but his ankle gave out. Glorious DDT by Roode. Hideo Itami kicked out of the Glorious DDT! Hideo Itami just hit the Go To Sleep on Roode but Roode rolled out of the ring! Hideo gets him back in but Roode kicks out at 2! Hideo went for another GTS but ROODE TRANSITIONS INTO THE GLORIOUS DDT! Roode doesn't let go of Hideo's head though. Roode picked him right back up and gave him the third Glorious DDT of the match for the 3-count! Bobby Roode retains the NXT Championship against a very capable challenger in Hideo Itami.

5. NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: Paul Ellering's Authors of Pain vs. Johnny Gargano & Tomasso Ciampa: DIY (Do It Yourself)

Paul Ellering leads Akam and Rezar to the ring first. And here come the challengers, DIY. Gargano and Ciampa are taking the fight to Akam and Rezar right at the opening bell. DIY went and got a gigantic ladder and set it up just outside the ropes. Gargano dove through the ladder to take out the AOP with a Suicide Dive. Ciampa offered his back for Johnny to step on and attack Rezar but Rezar caught Gargano and slammed him hard onto Ciampa's back. But DIY is back up and they got the AOP down and slammed a ladder right into the backs of both Akam and Rezar. Akam was holding a ladder and Ciampa managed to scale the ladder and nearly grabbed the belts above the ring but got knocked down. AOP just tried to Powerbomb DIY onto ladders but DIY managed to escape. They got the AOP on those ladders and then Gargano and Ciampa climbed the giant ladder in the middle and they both flattened the AOP. Back in the ring now, Gargano was about to grab the belts but Paul Ellering stopped him. Gargano Superkicks Paul Ellering. The AOP were going to hit Ciampa right in the face with a ladder but Gargano pushed him out of the way and took the shot. CIAMPA JUST GERMAN SUPLEXED REZAR OFF OF THE LADDER AND THROUGH ANOTHER LADDER! REZAR'S BACK HAS GOT TO BE COMPLETELY DESTROYED! Akam got his head stuck in a ladder and DIY gave him a Double Superkick. Gargano and Ciampa had the belts but the AOP got back up and took the ladder out from underneath them. DIY held onto the belts for as long as they could but the AOP gave them the Super Collider Powerbombs to finish them off. The AOP then climbed the ladder and got the belts. Akam and Rezar retain the NXT Tag Team Titles.

As DIY went up the entrance ramp, Ciampa started attacking Gargano! Tommasso Ciampa has just turned on Johnny Gargano! Ciampa hit Gargano with two incredibly hard knee strikes right to the face. Ciampa got Gargano on top of the announce table and gave him Fit Finlay's Celtic Cross/Sheamus's White Noise maneuver by JUMPING OFF THE TABLE AND OFF THE STAGE THROUGH ANOTHER TABLE BELOW! THAT WAS UNBELIEVABLY SICK!
