Updates have been provided for New Japan Pro Wrestling stars Tomoaki Honma and Katsuyori Shibata who both suffered nasty injuries earlier in the year.
Veteran Tomoaki Honma was stretchered out of an event in March after suffering a severe injury during his match alongside Togi Makabe and Michael Elgin against Jado, Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii. He was later “diagnosed to have injured his cervical vertebrae.”
A few weeks later, Katsuyori Shibata was injured during his main event match with Kazuchika Okada at NJPW's Sakura Genesis in April. During the match, Shibata hit Okada with a stiff headbutt, which caused Shibata to start bleeding from the forehead. During a medical examination, he was diagnosed with subdural hematoma and surgery was conducted.
Honma began training for a return. Shibata has no timetable. Front office and special internal committees are reviewing safety.
