On the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, host Dave Meltzer noted that there appears to be a great deal of opposition in WWE regarding the idea of turning former Women's Champion Charlotte Flair face, as some officials believe that this may not be the right time for a turn to take place. Meltzer further noted that there is the possibility that Flair may only remain as a face for a short time before she is eventually turned heel again.

As seen on this week's edition of SmackDown LIVE, a heel turn for Flair has been teased already, as there was a backstage segment in which she directly blamed SmackDown Women's Champion Naomi for Becky Lynch losing to Natalya before Becky stepped in to calm everything down. This appears to be teasing another possible match between Flair and Naomi, which may take place either at or after the SmackDown-exclusive Backlash event.
