We reported yesterday via a report from PWInsider that William Regal will be inducted into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame.

In an update, this is incorrect and PWInsider has retracted the original report. They have since spoken to sources within the company who note that Regal will not be inducted this year.

In related news, WWE will induct a number of legends from the early days of wrestling into their Legacy wing of their Hall of Fame. This wing was introduced last year to honor stars from the early years of pro wrestling.

The following names were posthumously included in 2016: Frank Gotch, Ed Lewis, George Hackenschmidt, Mildred Burke, Art Thomas, Pat O’Connor and Lou Thesz.
