At Sunday night's WWE SmackDown Live-exclusive No Mercy event, Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz to become the brand new Intercontinental Champion, despite attempted interference from Maryse and two of Ziggler's former Spirit Squad teammates, Mikey and Kenny.

Had Ziggler lost the match, he would have been forced to leave WWE.

Ziggler's victory marks his fifth reign as Intercontinental Champion.
