At Sunday night's WWE Raw-exclusive Clash of Champions event on the WWE Network, Roman Reigns defeated Rusev to become the brand new United States Champion.

Reigns nearly won the match via disqualification due to Lana pulling the referee out of the ring, which would have resulted in Rusev keeping the title; however Lana was instead ejected from ringside and the match was allowed to continue.

Reigns's victory marks his first reign as WWE United States Champion.
