Smackdown Live Intro

Smackdown is coming to us from the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and we kick things off with two brand new championships on display in the ring surrounded by the Smackdown roster. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan come out to the ring and Shane says every superstar in the ring has a huge opportunity in front of them

Bryan applauds the women's division for their performance at Summerslam and at Backlash a women's six pack challenge will take place to determine the first ever Smackdown Women's Championship. Bryan next announces a tournament to determine the new Smackdown Tag Team Champions

Heath Slater then steps up and wants entry into the tag team championship tournament. Shane says Slater's not part of the roster and doesn't know how he got here but that's another story. Bryan then says if Slater can find a tag team partner before the night is over he's in the tournament but Shane puts forth the challenge to Slater that he has to win the entire tournament

Slater says they won't regret it and immediately exits the ring to search for a partner. AJ Styles walks out with grievances of his own but before he can continue talking, Dolph Ziggler attacks him from behind but it's quickly broken up as Smackdown goes to break

Alexa and Becky lock up and Becky goes to work on the arm. Alexa with a takedown but Becky still in control working over the arm placing it in a hammerlock.

Alexa with a back elbow. Another takedown by Becky who looks for the Dis-arm her. Alexa turns the tables standing on Becky. 2 count on Becky. Alexa now works over Becky's arm.

Alexa with a knee to the midsection. Becky with an elbow to Alexa and a leg lariat. The flying fire arm by Becky and another nearfall by Alexa. Becky Lynch grabs the arm and flips Alexa over locking the Dis-arm her in for the submission

The Ascension quickly go after The Usos double teaming Jimmy. Crushing corner clothesline by Konnor. Chops by Viktor and a nearfall. Konnor with a legdrop. Jimmy tries to fight back but Konnor backs him into the corner. Enziguri by Jimmy

The winners of the match: The Usos

AJ Styles walks out to the ring as the crowd starts an "AJ Styles" chant. Styles says he sees a lot of angry and jealous faces like Dolph Ziggler because of what he did at Summerslam

Styles says he did exactly what he said he'd do. Beat up John Cena then beat him at Summerslam. But the Cenation doesn't have to cry anymore because they can all be AJ Styles fans and he is the face that runs the place and should be the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship.

Ziggler goes to storm the ring but is stopped by officials and Bryan comes out and says he will not let Ziggler and Styles ruin the show. He agrees with Styles he should be the #1 Contender. Ziggler came close at Summerslam and it's apparent that Styles and Ziggler want to fight so tonight it will happen and if Styles wins he goes onto Backlash to face Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship. and if Ziggler wins he gets added to that match and it becomes a triple threat

Vignette: Curt Hawkins Coming Soon

Renee is interviewing Nikki and Carmella attacks from behind. Mic Check by Carmella and Carmlla unloads on Nikki as a second official pulls her off of Nikki. Carmella hits the Bella Buster on Nikki and exits the ring

The winner of the match: None

Last Sunday: Highlights from Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton at Summerslam

Randy Orton makes his way out to the ring. Orton says he was in a helluva fight on Sunday with Brock Lesnar. He knew what he was in for he knew he was going to suplex city and he would have rather gone out on a gurney instead of have the match end the way it did. Shane intervened and thought he was doing the right thing and maybe on paper he was but one day he and Lesnar's path will cross again

Bray Wyatt's music plays and The Eater Of World makes his way out. Wyatt asks how Orton's head is. He saw what Lesnar did and saw Orton's eyes change and go completely blank. Wyatt calls Orton a great man but still just a man. A man who hurts, suffers and dies. But he is not just a man, he is a god and a god can never die. Orton will find out about it in time

Backstage: Shane doesn't think Stephanie will take Brock Lesnar's actions seriously. He found out she fined Lesnar $500 Neither of them are taking this seriously and this thing between Shane and Lesnar is far from over.

Ziggler tried a single-leg take-down, but Styles stayed on his feet and leveled Ziggler with a right hand. The two scrapped a bit, and Styles created some necessary separation by retreating to ringside. Ziggler tried but couldn’t clothesline Styles over the top rope once back in the ring, so instead, he dropkicked him over the top. They went to break at 1:59 of the match.

Back at 5:47 with Styles in control, working over Ziggler in the corner. Styles reversed an Irish whip and sent Ziggler chest-first into the turnbuckles. It was a hard hit. Back-breaker from Styles. Styles slowed the pace. Punches, followed by a roundhouse kick by Styles. Ziggler surprised Styles by taking him down and trying to roll him up. He didn’t even get a one-count. Styles threw some words Ambrose’s way as he continued to dominate Ziggler. Ziggler peppered Styles with rights to the ribs, then the head. Ziggler tried to spear Styles oft the apron, but Styles delivered a neck-breaker over the middle rope. Break again, at 10:43 of the match.

The show returned at 14:05. It was still all Styles. Ziggler again gave a glimpse of a comeback, but Styles, again, stopped him cold. A dropkick put Styles down. This time, Ziggler was able to sustain an offensive. Elbowdrop for two. Fameasser by Ziggler for a two-count. Ushigoroshi by Styles for a two-count. Springboard 450 missed. DDT by Ziggler for a near-fall. Slowly, both men got to their feet. Styles caught a kick and tried the Styles Clash. He was unsuccessful. Zig Zag for a very near fall. The crowd was really into the last two two-counts. Styles kicked the rope into Ziggler’s leg (after catching another superkick attempt) and hit the Styles Clash for the victory.
