WWE has now officially confirmed that Randy Orton will make his return to the company at August's SummerSlam event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York to be the opponent of Brock Lesnar. The announcement was made on tonight's edition of SmackDown on the USA Network.

This will be Orton's first match ever since suffering a shoulder injury in late 2015, as he has been out of action ever since then. It will also be only the second time that Orton and Lesnar have faced one another in a WWE ring, the first time being back in September of 2002 when both men were still rookies with the company.

It had been widely speculated that Orton would be Lesnar's opponent at the event ever since a report was made by both The Wrestling Observer and a Reddit user; however, nothing had been officially confirmed at that time and the reports were naturally only treated as rumors.
