The Wrestling Observer reports that it is believed that Billy Gunn was never subjected to drug testing while at the WWE Performance Center, as only talent and not coaches or general staff are tested. 

WWE felt it was in their best interest to release him as a trainer as the fact he was on PEDs would make a mockery of the developmental program and the center.

WWE is reportedly considering two people to replace Gunn. It is unknown who at this stage.
