Another Injury Update Regarding Sami Zayn, Potentially Out Of Action For A Few Months?

As previously reported, former WWE NXT Champion Sami Zayn appeared to suffer an injury to his shoulder during his match against John Cena on Monday night's edition of Raw.

In an update, The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the injury that Zayn suffered was indeed legitimate and was not a work of any kind. It is also being stated that the injury actually happened sometime before Zayn entered the ring on Monday night. Zayn was also scheduled to compete at this week's SmackDown television taping, but due to the injury, WWE was left with no other alternative but to re-write the show without Zayn in it.

The report further states that there was talk within the company on Tuesday that Zayn may be out of action for the next few months because of his injury; however, it should be noted that as of this report, WWE has not received a report back from the doctor as of yet.

Should Zayn be declared unfit to compete for a few months, this obviously means that he will not be able to take part in his scheduled match against NXT Champion Kevin Owens at the upcoming NXT Takeover: Unstoppable event, which will take place on May 20th on the WWE Network. This could potentially lead to either Tyler Breeze, Hideo Itami, or Finn Balor - all of whom will be competing in a number one contender Triple Threat Match at the same event - getting the title shot against Owens that night instead, though this has not been officially confirmed.
