WWE released Ricardo Rodriguez last week with his contract up for renewal the night after SummerSlam in two weeks, however Ricardo had been frustrated for some time that he wasn't being used as a wrestler since his split from Alberto Del Rio and has been suffering for some nagging injuries. 

The original person WWE wanted to use as Del Rio's "personal ring announcer" told people that he wasn't interested in doing ring announcing, which led to Ricardo getting a tryout around SummerSlam 2010.
