Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown and this week we are at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island and we kick things off with Teddy Long in the ring and he welcomes everyone to Smackdown and says as many know, Vince McMahon has hired a new GM for Monday Night Raw and his name is Brad Maddox. Long says he doesn’t know about Maddox’s qualifications but they’ve got to be better than Vickie Guerrero’s. Long says Mr. McMahon knows what he’s doing and he will be here later tonight and rumour has it that McMahon will be giving Teddy Long a job evaluation much like the one Vickie Guerrero recently had. Long then asks the WWE Universe if they think he’s been doing a good job and if they’d like to see him as permanent General Manager. Booker T then makes his return much to the dismay of Teddy Long who doesn’t look too happy. Booker thanks Long for filling in for him in his absence and says Long has done a helluva job but he’s back now and ready to resume his position as General Manager of Smackdown. Vince McMahon then comes out. Vince says the reason he came out is to make sure there’s no confusion nor any dissension between Booker T and Teddy Long. He says only one person can be in charge of Smackdown and it’s important for him to make his decision here tonight. He then asks Long if he were named General Manager of Smackdown how would Long impress everyone tonight. Long then makes a match with Curtis Axel vs Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship. Booker T’s turn is next and he says the match he’d make for tonight would have to be Alberto Del Rio vs Randy Orton. Brad Maddox then comes out to the ring and asks to have a word with Vince. Maddox says he’s already been made GM of Raw but feels he should be the GM of Smackdown as well. Maddox also notes that tonight marks the return of Rob Van Dam to Friday Night Smackdown. The crowd starts an “RVD” chant. We get a drum roll and then Vince announces that the new permanent GM of Smackdown is Vickie Guerrero. Vickie comes out and thanks Vince McMahon and blames the WWE Universe for her being fired from Raw and for that she hates each and everyone of the WWE Universe. She says she’s back with power. There’s nothing anyone can do about it.

Miz says he knows why Heyman lies, because when he tells the truth and shows his real self, it’s even uglier than the liar they’ve come to know and hate. Damien Sandow is in the ring and he quotes Ghandi saying “The weak cannot forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong”. He then says he wants to clarify something. This past Sunday in the MIITB ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship contract it was every man for himself and everyone knew this. And despite what everyone have been saying or chanting, he did not screw Cody Rhodes. This begs another question. Why did his best friend do what he did this past Monday night on Raw. The crowd starts chanting “Cody” and Sandow calls them slackjaw mouth breathers and says he will not react to this the way they would. He is not going condemn or spit hateful rhetoric towards Cody Rhodes because that’s what separates the intellectual saviour from the unwashed masses. He says he and Rhodes are both gentlemen and civilized and most of all they are still best friends. He then gives Rhodes the opportunity to come out and explain himself so they can get past this. Sandow then says he forgives Rhodes for acting out in anger. He may have prevented Rhodes from winning MITB but would like to rectify it by offering an olive branch. He then says he would like to bestow upon Rhodes the honour of being protector of the case and until he is prepared to cash in his briefcase Rhodes will be responsible directly for its protection and safety. Sandow says Rhodes earned it and hands him the briefcase. Rhodes blasts Sandow in the head with the briefcase and attacks him.
