It was reported a number of months ago that there was talk backstage in WWE that with John Cena getting older (he's 35 right now) there is a need to find a younger talent who will eventually take Cena's spot as WWE's top Superstar. It was also reported that this next star might be the last one to be hand selected by Vince McMahon himself, as his real life son-in-law Paul Levesque (Triple H) will most likely be taking over the company along with Stephanie McMahon-Levesque within the next couple of years.
As of right now, there is at least some talk that the next top babyface star of the company might turn out to be the current Friday Night SmackDown World Heavyweight Champion, "The Great White" Sheamus O'Shaunessy.
However, there is said to be some concern over Sheamus's age as well, as he is 34 years old himself. And another concern about Sheamus is that although he has found success as one of the top babyfaces, his overall gimmick and persona may not fit the mold of other top stars from the past such as Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, or John Cena.
One of the biggest things Sheamus has going for him is support from key members of WWE management, including Triple H, who is reportedly a big fan of "The Celtic Warrior."
