Fan Suing WWE Breaks His Silence

Posted By: WrestlingNewsSource.com on Jan 08, 2011

Ronald Basham III, the fan suing World Wrestling Entertainment from an alleged incident that occurred at the WWF Judgment Day pay-per-view back on May 21, 2000, recently broke his silence for an interview with the Louisville, Kentucky-based NBC affiliate WAVE 3.

Basham, who is an 18-year-old high school senior, continues to claim that he suffered leg injuries during the main event of the pay-per-view, which featured a then-World Wrestling Federation Championship match between Triple H and The Rock. Basham says the injuries occurred after the match ended up going into the crowd.

Basham has the following to say...

\"After The Rock got into it with one of the spectators, bodies were just coming towards me.\"

Basham\'s mother, Lisa Lanham, also claims that someone shoved a female fan on top of her son as he was standing on a chair.

Harris Berman, the attorney for Basham, had the following to say about what the family said happened next...

\"He fell down and his legs were caught between the two chairs and the lady then fell on him and crushed his right knee. It really resulted as an assault on a 7-year-old kid.\"

Basham and his mother also state that as he underwent multiple surgeries over the years, the injury only got worse, which resulted in medical bills totaling $37,000. Berman says that the family reportedly had no plans to file a lawsuit until WWE refused to pay for anything resulting from the alleged incident, which included Basham\'s ambulance ride to the hospital.

Berman had the following to say about whether or not suing WWE was the right thing to do...

\"Yeah for the pain and taking away a kid\'s childhood, because that\'s the best part of anyone\'s life is their childhood.\"

As for the statute of limitations, even though the injury occurred over ten years ago, Kentucky\'s Statue of Limitations extends for minors to age 18. The current lawsuit specifically names Triple H and The Rock and is also seeking a jury trial as well as compensation.
