WWE touts record-breaking WrestleMania 23 attendance

World Wrestling Entertainment issued a press release Sunday celebrating its record-breaking WrestleMania 23 attendance.
The 80,103 fans who attended WrestleMania set a Ford Field record. The $5.38 million gate also marks a WWE milestone as the company’s highest grossing event in history.
Regarding the strong attendance for WrestleMania 23, which came twenty years after the huge WrestleMania III event in the same city of Detroit (an attendance of 93,173 according to WWE but around 75,000 according to other reports), WWE’s Kurt Schneider said, â€"Who says lightning doesnââ¬â¢t strike twice.ââ¬Â
WWE estimates the event pumped $25 million into the Detroit economy. Fans from all fifty states, all nine Canadian provinces and twenty four countries attended the show.
