ECW's Extreme Rules (2-Disc)
by: Hardcore Hecxz

With Vince McMahon and WWE still trying to cash on Paul Heyman's ECW, WWE's releases us it's next line of ECW DVD's entitled "Extreme Rules", this 2-Disc set, Features the past and present ECW brands and it's respected matches. Oh course in these releases, you might of already know from past WWE releases that any copyrighted music from the old ECW days has been dubbed out and replaced with either their current themes if they still with WWE or has been replaced with some horrible cheap crappy rock songs that would twist your stomach, be like....if I was a wrestler I wouldn't come out to that crap.

Disc 1, relives the ECW from yesterday, with the crazy fans, the small arenas, and the all-out drag out insanity we grew up with and loved, and Disc 1 (besides the bad intro from Ariel with those tarot cards) is probally the reason to pick this DVD up.

Disc 1 Contains the following in order

- Ariel's Tarot Card Reading Intro
- Joey Styles & Tazz Introduction to the DVD
- ECW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH - Sandman VS Cactus Jack - Hardcore Heaven 7/1/95
- Extreme Memories: Early Years
- STEEL CAGE WEAPONS MATCH FOR THE ECW TAG TEAM TITLES - The Gangstas VS The Eliminators - Natural Born Killaz 8/24/96
- Extreme Vignette: Sabu
- SCAFFOLD MATCH - Tommy Dreamer VS Brian Lee - High Incident 10/26/96 (Alt. Commentary with Tommy Dreamer & Johathan Coachman)
- Extreme Memories: Middle Years
- STAIRWAY TO HELL - Sandman VS Sabu - House Party 1/10/98
- Extreme Vignette: Sandman
- DUDLEYVILLE STREET FIGHT - Buh Buh Ray, D'Von & Big Dick Dudley VS Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Spike Dudley - Heatwave '98 8/2/98
- EXTREME DEATH MATCH TO UNIFY THE ECW & FTW TITLES - Tazz VS Sabu - Living Dangerously 3/21/99 (Alt. Commentary with Tazz & Joey Styles)
- Extreme Memories: Later Years
- ECW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Mike Awesome VS Masato Tanaka - ECW 12/31/99
- Extreme Vignette: Balls Mahoney
- TABLES, LADDERS, CHAIRS & CANES FOR THE ECW TITLE - Steve Corino VS Sandman VS Justin Credible - Guilty as Charged 1/7/01

However when you get to Disc 2, you will get WWE's version of ECW as it shows the resurection of ECW starting from One Night Stand 2005 up to what you see on Sci-Fi channel on Tuesdays. Now of course a few of these matches are good, some decent, but others just make you want to cry because after seeing Disc 1, you know, this isn't ECW anymore. It's feels like more of what you saw in the late 90's in WWE when they had the Hardcore Championship.

Here's what Disc 2 has

- Joey Styles & Tazz Introduction to Disc 2
- Dudley Boyz VS Tommy Dreamer & Sandman - ECW One Night Stand 6/12/05
- Extreme Memories: ECW One Night Stand 2005
- Rey Mysterio VS Rob Van Dam - WWE VS ECW: Head to Head 6/7/06
- Extreme Memories: WWE VS ECW: Head to Head
- EXTREME RULES MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE - Rey Mysterio VS Sabu - ECW One Night Stand 6/11/06
- Mick Foley & Edge VS Tommy Dreamer & Terry Funk Vignette
- MIXED EXTREME TAG TEAM MATCH - Mick Foley, Edge & Lita VS Tommy Dreamer, Terry Funk & Beulah - ECW One Night Stand 6/11/06
- EXTREME RULES MATCH FOR THE ECW TITLE - Rob Van Dam VS Big Show - ECW 7/4/06
- Extreme Vignette: CM Punk
- EXTREME RULES MATCH FOR THE ECW TITLE - Big Show VS Ric Flair - ECW 7/11/06
- Extreme Vignette: Kevin Thorn
- LADDER MATCH FOR THE #1 CONTENDER FOR THE ECW TITLE - Sabu VS Rob Van Dam - ECW 8/16/06
- Extreme Vignette: Kelly Kelly
- EXTREME RULES MATCH: Rob Van Dam & Sabu VS Test & Mike Knox - ECW 9/5/06
- Extreme Vignette: Big Show
- EXTREME RULES MATCH: Rob Van Dam VS Hardcore Holly - ECW 9/26/06

Thing that didn't stand out on this Set is the Vignettes, you had Vignettes for Balls Mahoney, CM Punk, Kevin Thorn, and Kelly Kelly, but they had no matches or no part in this DVD, so what was the point, well this reviewer can live without a Kevin Thorn Match and another pointless tease by Kelly Kelly (why call yourself Kelly twice...good lord), that I could see if I went to a Adult Video Store and pay $5 for a Porno. Still Disc 2 lacked in the entertainment value for me, some of it was good like the One Night Stand Matches but after that it just went down hill and remind me that this was a DVD done by WWE.

Still ECW Extreme Rules wasn't all a bust, Ol' School ECW fans will get a kick out of some of these never released ECW Matches on DVD and relive the past on Disc 1, but it painful to see them censored from language or it's original music (even though the music is unstandable), but censoring a TV-MA rated DVD is kinda pointless if you ask me, and chances are will disregard Disc 2 unless you like the so-called "New Breed"

ECW Extreme Rules gets a 3 out of 5
