One of the reasons Scotty Goldman, aka Colt Cabana, was released from WWE was actually because of a botched spot during his match against Umaga at last week's SmackDown tapings which aired on Friday. Goldman jumped to take the Samoan Spike and landed akwardly. It appeared as if Goldman was going to make the move look more impressive, but it ended up looking like Umaga's thumb missed. As Umaga was making his exit up the ramp, they announced that Vickie Guerrero was ordering the match to be restarted and Goldman took the move the traditional way the second time.

The match looked fine on TV, but apparently there was heat over having to do the finish twice. Goldman had become more of a WWE.com personality in recent weeks and survived the first wave of cuts. The botched move likely wasn't the entire reason for his release, but reports indicate that it clearly played a part.

WWE's loss could be ROH's gain though, as in a recent blog entry Goldman hinted at a return to his former stomping grounds. He won't be able to appear on television of 90 days, assuming he has the standard release agreement with WWE.
