Jeff Cobb has explained why wearing face paint proved more difficult than wrestling in a mask, sharing an unusual story about how the look was introduced to him.
Speaking with SOTO619, the former WWE star, also known as JC Mateo, said he was asked to recreate a look he had supposedly used in Japan. There was just one problem: Cobb says he never wore face paint there.
“The paint was truly different because I was told, ‘You’re going to wear the paint like you did in Japan.’ And I never wore paint in Japan. I think they got me confused with somebody else.”
While wearing a mask came with its own challenges, Cobb said being able to remove it easily made it the better option.
“The paint was definitely the hardest, just for the fact that with the mask, I could put it on. I couldn’t breathe, but I could put it on, and then when I’m done, I could take it off.”
Removing the paint was a much longer process. Cobb also claimed he later discovered that the wipes he had been using had been recalled.
“The paint took forever to get off. I had to use the wipes. Then I found out the wipes I used got recalled. But then for some reason, the makeup ladies still use those.”
