Sheamus has support from some familiar faces in AEW, but a move to the company does not appear imminent.
The former WWE star, real name Stephen Farrelly, became a free agent after reportedly turning down a “restructured extension” earlier in 2026. While fans await his next move, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reports there is no major urgency to bring him into AEW.
However, Claudio Castagnoli and Adam Copeland have made their interest in seeing him join clear.
“There doesn’t seem to be a huge urgency in bringing him in, but there are some heavy hitters like Claudio Castagnoli and Adam Copeland that have made it clear that they would like him there. Sheamus has had talks with other companies. I don’t know if he’s had direct talks with All Elite Wrestling, but nothing seems imminent.”
Adding to the speculation is Sheamus’ appearance at The Big Event NY fan convention on November 14, the same day AEW presents Full Gear in Phoenix, Arizona.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Sheamus recently asked whether he could leave the convention early to attend a wedding. While that request does not confirm any connection to Full Gear, Meltzer left the possibility open with a brief comment.
“Might be nothing. Might be something.”
For now, the report offers no confirmation of an AEW deal or debut, leaving fans waiting to see where Sheamus lands.
