Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi remains the reported direction for one of WrestleMania 43’s main events, but Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk is not currently planned for the other headline spot.

Dave Meltzer shared the update in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, addressing speculation about WWE’s plans for its two-night event in April 2027.

While Reigns vs. Femi lines up with what Meltzer has been told, the report did not identify the other planned main event. He explained that Rhodes vs. Punk would be a logical choice, although it is not the match WWE currently has in mind.

“There has been a lot of talk this week that the two main events for WrestleMania in 2027 would be Rhodes vs. Punk on night one and Reigns vs. Femi on night two. From what we were told, the latter is accurate but the former is not the current plan. Rhodes vs. Punk would make sense and I could see the argument for it as they are the two top stars on the Smackdown brand and have been kept apart aside from their 8/1 SummerSlam title match. But right now that is not the plan. We’re only in October and historically these plans will change multiple times anyway, whether due to injuries or other situations.”

With roughly six months to go, there is still plenty of room for WWE’s plans to develop. Injuries contributed to several changes ahead of WrestleMania 42, which ultimately featured Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and Punk vs. Reigns as its two main events.

Reigns currently holds the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw, while Sami Zayn is the Undisputed WWE Champion on SmackDown. Liv Morgan and Chelsea Green hold the respective women’s championships, with Green serving as interim champion during Rhea Ripley’s absence.

WrestleMania 43 is set for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with April 10 and 11, 2027 reported as the expected dates.

WWE is also scheduled to visit Riyadh for Crown Jewel on November 7. Although turmoil in the Middle East has raised questions about that event, WWE and TKO leadership have said the show remains set to go ahead in Saudi Arabia.
