Paul Heyman’s famous ponytail met its match in his own home.
His son, Jacob Heyman, says he was the person who convinced the WWE personality to ditch his signature look.
Appearing alongside Cody Rhodes, Charlotte Flair and O’Shea Jackson Jr. on HeymanHustleTV Presents: The Roundtable, Jacob dropped his confession as the group discussed their famous fathers.
“This is breaking news. I’ve never revealed this to the world, but, uh, I told him to cut the ponytail. That was my idea.”
The table reacted with disbelief.
“Oh my God. This is how you tell us?”
Jacob doubled down: “That was my idea.”
After someone responded, “You’re the one,” Cody delivered the punchline.
“Some would say you did a service.”
Heyman cut off the ponytail in February 2014. He had previously wanted CM Punk to take it as a trophy during their 2013 WWE feud, but Vince McMahon initially resisted the idea. That storyline never happened, and Heyman eventually changed his look before returning alongside Brock Lesnar.
Jacob’s biggest revelation, though, was how different his father is away from television. Behind wrestling’s notorious schemer is a dad he clearly adores.
“My dad’s played a heel on TV for, what was it, 40 years. And he’s the biggest babyface of my life. He’s my hero. He’s my best friend. And I couldn’t ask for a better dad.”
