Kairi Sane’s next move remains undecided, with a new report clarifying why the former WWE star has yet to return to wrestling in the United States.

Nearly six months after her last match on American soil, Sane remains a free agent. According to Fightful Select, she needs sponsorship from a wrestling company or agency before she can renew her expired US work visa.

The report indicates that an unsigned deal is the issue, rather than visa delays preventing an agreed move from going ahead.

“Kairi remains a free agent after her WWE deal expired when they released her earlier in the year,” the report reads. “Fightful Select has reported that ongoing conversations have ensued since free agency, and that she also has multiple standing offers in Japan.”

Fightful also addressed speculation surrounding a possible AEW arrival, stressing that no agreement has been finalised.

“There were reports recently that the belief is that visa issues are holding up a deal, but it’s actually the opposite,” the Fightful report explains. “Kairi’s US visa has expired, and would need to either be sponsored by a wrestling company or agency for renewal. As she’s not signed by AEW yet, that hasn’t happened. Once she signs, an expedited visa can be approved in as little as 15 business days. But this isn’t a situation of waiting on the visa right now for her debut, she isn’t signed and no deal is finalized.”

Sane does have an appearance lined up for November on Chris Jericho’s Rock N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea. According to the report, she can take part without a US visa because the event takes place in international waters.

Her most recent match took place on the April 20 episode of Monday Night Raw, when she teamed with Asuka against Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley. Sane and Asuka were defeated in that encounter.

Sane had WWE runs from 2016 to 2021 and again from 2023 until her departure earlier this year. Outside WWE, she is also known for competing as KAIRI in Stardom.

With discussions continuing and offers available in Japan, fans are still waiting to learn where her next chapter will begin.
