Keith Lee’s wrestling future remains uncertain, with a new report suggesting AEW currently has no creative plans for the former World Tag Team Champion.
Lee has been away from the ring for almost three years. While he previously indicated that his health had improved, there has been no confirmed date for his return.
Speaking during the latest Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp reported that AEW has no current creative plans for Lee, according to EWrestlingNews.
The update follows reports in June 2026 that AEW had discussed bringing Lee back to television several months earlier. Those discussions did not result in an appearance, and no comeback timetable was announced.
A further report in July suggested that some people within the wrestling industry believed Lee might have retired. However, Lee has not publicly announced his retirement.
His most recent match took place on the December 23, 2023, edition of AEW Collision: Holiday Bash, when he defeated Brian Cage. He was then due to face Swerve Strickland at Worlds End later that month, but was unable to receive medical clearance. Dustin Rhodes stepped in as his replacement.
Lee underwent two surgeries in early 2024 after experiencing health problems for an extended period. He has remained absent from AEW programming since then.
In September, Lee also attracted attention with a rare social media post following almost a year away from the platform. He shared a photograph with Darius J. Wright, a self-described consciousness explorer who promotes alternative spiritual beliefs. The photograph prompted discussion among fans, but offered no confirmed update on Lee’s wrestling future.
For now, a return remains unannounced, and the latest report offers no indication of when that could change.
