A mysterious cassette handed out at AEW WrestleDream has added a new twist to the disappearance of “Timeless” Toni Storm.
Content creator Astrid Pizarro received a package containing one of the “Toni Storm Tapes” at Saturday’s event in Orlando, Florida. The cassette was marked one of five and came with a simple instruction: “play me.”
Storm has been absent from AEW television since March, making the unexpected delivery an intriguing development.
“I was handed out the tape at WrestleDream by somebody. I opened it, it just said ‘play me.’ Thankfully my dad and my brother have a cassette player, so I was able to play it today,” Pizarro said in a video on X. “I was the only one in my area that got it, and it says one out of five. I don’t know who the other four people are.”
Pizarro shared a transcription on X before uploading the full audio to YouTube. The recording features narration from Renee Paquette, who introduces the mystery surrounding Storm’s whereabouts.
According to the narration, nobody has seen or heard from Storm since March 18, 2026. A brown paper package tied with string reportedly arrived at AEW’s Jacksonville office last Wednesday, carrying five analogue cassettes and no return address.
Paquette explains that Storm was long rumoured to carry a recording device in her purse, capturing “every conversation, meeting and moment.”
The first cassette, titled “Mundanities,” offers a glimpse into Storm’s eccentric world. Its opening track, “Morning Mantra,” features a typically dramatic take on positive affirmations.
“I face the day with resentment and scorn. My mind is a mess, my heart is in shambles and my body is barely holding it together like an overstuffed garbage bag but damn it, I am timeless.”
Other recordings feature Storm speaking to her 12-year-old cocker spaniel and discussing her unreleased film, “Toni, Toni, Toni.”
A track titled “Seminar” also includes some unconventional advice for wrestling students.
“Lesson number 4, if you want to make it in this business, you got to get yourself a cool hat.”
However, the collection takes a more ominous turn with Paquette revealing that the final tape is titled “Death.”
The tapes arrive as Tony Khan has offered reassurance that Storm will return to AEW, although he has not revealed a date.
“I can’t say when or where but I know ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm will be back in AEW,” Khan said during the WrestleDream media scrum.
He added that she is “looking to get payback for whoever it was that took her out.”
Storm last competed at AEW Revolution on March 15, defeating Marina Shafir. Their planned rematch on the March 18 episode of Dynamite in Fresno, California, did not take place after an angle showed Storm laid out in her locker room.
Dave Meltzer reported at the time that her absence was not injury-related. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter later reported that she was expected to remain out until 2027.
For now, the tapes offer another chapter in the mystery surrounding the record four-time AEW Women’s World Champion.
