Tony Khan says Toni Storm will return to AEW, although fans will have to wait to find out when and where she makes her comeback.
Speaking at the WrestleDream media scrum in Orlando, Florida, Khan addressed the former AEW Women’s World Champion’s absence and praised the women’s division for stepping up while she has been away.
“Also, you asked about the former world champion, Timeless Toni Storm. Well, I know we’ve been missing Timeless Toni Storm, but everybody’s just been doing absolutely fantastic. The women’s wrestling in AEW has seen the locker room absolutely step up in the absence of the former world champion.
“We have a great world champion now in Mercedes Moné, who’s had her first successful defense of the world championship tonight. The former world champion, Timeless Toni Storm, is certainly on a lot of our minds, and I can’t say when or where, but I know Timeless Toni Storm will be back in AEW and looking to get payback for whoever it was that took her out.”
Storm has been missing from AEW programming since March. Her last storyline appearance saw her discovered bloodied in her locker room ahead of a scheduled Dynamite match against Marina Shafir.
That incident came just three days after Storm was involved in a pull-apart confrontation with Ronda Rousey at Revolution on March 15.
The reason for Storm’s absence outside the storyline has not been publicly revealed. Khan’s comments leave the timing of her return open, but suggest the mystery surrounding her attacker will remain part of her story when she comes back.
