An encouraging update on Konnan’s health has emerged after he was unable to attend his induction into the TNA Hall of Fame.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those familiar with his condition say “the worst is over”. However, the wrestling veteran remains unable to travel after spending months in hospital and physical rehabilitation.
Cruz Montana inducted Konnan ahead of Sunday’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view, holding up his plaque during the ceremony. Konnan was unable to attend and did not provide a recorded message.
Meltzer wrote:
“Montana held up Konnan’s plaque and walked to the back. Konnan (Charles Ashenoff, 62) has been hospitalized and in physical rehab for months after a nightmarish year of horrible illness and pain. We are told that the worst is over, but there was no way he could travel and did not send in a tape to be played.”
It was reported in June that Konnan had undergone a double leg amputation, with WWE covering his medical expenses.
The TNA honour adds to a career already recognised by two other wrestling Halls of Fame. Konnan entered the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 2009 and the AAA Hall of Fame in 2025.
