R-Truth’s match against Damian Priest came to an unexpected end on Friday’s WWE SmackDown after he appeared to suffer an injury.
Truth attempted a missile dropkick from the turnbuckle but stayed down after landing. He remained conscious and was moving as the referee checked on him, before calling off the contest and raising the X signal.
Priest then left the ring and grabbed a steel chair. The referee intervened as Fraxiom rushed out to check on Truth. Priest dropped the chair and headed away as the segment ended.
According to False Finish, the stoppage was legitimate. Fightful Select also reported that the match had been scheduled to end with Priest winning. The original plan reportedly called for a post-match attack, with Fraxiom arriving to make the save.
The incident recalled Truth’s injury during his match against Grayson Waller on the November 1, 2022 episode of NXT. That contest was stopped after Truth tore his quadriceps, leading to surgery and more than a year away from the ring.
The report did not provide further details about the nature or severity of his latest apparent injury.
