John Cena is keeping the dream of a London WrestleMania alive, insisting the city and its passionate wrestling fans have earned the chance to host WWE’s biggest event.
Speaking on Off Menu, the food podcast hosted by Ed Gamble and James Acaster, Cena revealed that he continues to champion the idea despite stepping away from the ring.
“My role now is way more lax, and I’m still an advocate. I’ll say it right here to give you guys some good information. I’m still an advocate to try to bring WrestleMania to London. I think London has earned the right to have the event,” Cena said.
WrestleMania 43 is scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With the event heading outside North America for the first time, Cena believes it could help demonstrate what is possible for other international destinations.
“I am very excited about this year’s WrestleMania because it is the first WrestleMania outside of North America, so it’s like proof of concept that it can be done. I am still a strong advocate that this crowd, this city, has earned the right to WrestleMania.”
Cena memorably sparked excitement at Money in the Bank at London’s O2 on July 1, 2023, when he made a surprise appearance and urged WWE to bring WrestleMania to the capital.
While he does not know how far any discussions have progressed, he remains open to making that appeal in front of a London crowd again.
“What little stroke I have, I certainly tried to rile up the crowd a few times to say that London has earned WrestleMania, and it did get people talking. I don’t know where those talks are at, but you know, hopefully, maybe I can return to the O2 and stake that claim again. We’ll see,” Cena said.
For Cena, the appeal extends beyond the atmosphere inside an arena. He believes London would offer visiting fans plenty to enjoy alongside the wrestling.
“Honestly, it’s just my perspective. I look around, I see the energy and passion, enthusiasm. What a great city for people to come to! WrestleMania is such a travel-to event. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world. I love London, so I think it’d be a nice piece of culture for people to explore and experience WrestleMania.”
“We need to do WrestleMania here. Just my perspective.”
There is still no confirmed agreement to bring WrestleMania to London. In May, the Mayor of London’s office told POST Wrestling there were “general discussions with WWE, but at present no specific discussions around bringing the 2028 WrestleMania to London.” Nashville’s convention and visitors corporation also said it was working with WWE on a future date.
London has already demonstrated its appetite for major wrestling events. AEW announced a paid attendance of 81,035 for All In at Wembley Stadium on August 27, 2023, providing a significant benchmark for any future stadium show.
WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 43 also show how its wider celebrations can span different locations. While WrestleMania will take place in Riyadh, NXT Stand & Deliver, AAA Eternal Glory and official watch parties have been announced for the Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. A Hall of Fame venue has yet to be announced.
Cena retired from in-ring competition after losing to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., on December 13, 2025. His enthusiasm for bringing WrestleMania to London, however, remains firmly intact.
