Roman Reigns retained the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight at WWE Money in the Bank 2026, but his night did not end with the final bell.
The opening match in New Orleans saw Knight push the champion with a strong challenge. After sending Reigns into the barricade, Knight powerbombed him through an announce table and came close to securing the title with a near fall.
Reigns turned things around by crotching Knight on the ropes. He then connected with a Superman Punch and a spear to secure the victory and keep his championship.
The celebrations were soon interrupted by The 946, who appeared in the crowd to taunt Reigns. However, the champion appeared ready for their arrival, with The Usos and Solo Sikoa emerging behind the group.
A brawl broke out and spilled through the Superdome before reaching the outside of the venue. Jaida Parker then pulled up in a car, allowing The 946 to make their escape.
Knight’s pursuit of the championship began shortly after SummerSlam, when he told Reigns he wanted the next title opportunity. Reigns initially rejected the challenge, insisting Knight had not earned his shot.
The situation escalated in Mexico City when Knight attacked Reigns following the champion’s successful defence against Penta. That confrontation ultimately led to Reigns agreeing to defend the gold at Money in the Bank.
