Tony Khan is confident AEW has a bright future with Skydance following a major change involving the promotion’s media partner.
Speaking ahead of AEW Grand Slam France on October 6, Khan marked his first day working with Skydance by sharing his enthusiasm for the relationship. The event was taped at the Adidas Arena in Paris, with Dynamite moving to Tuesday for the week instead of its usual Wednesday slot.
“It’s great being here in Paris today, my first day working for Skydance, and it’s great. I love working for Skydance, and we are going to have a great future here,” Khan said.
Khan also welcomed the connection between Warner Bros. and its new Paramount colleagues, presenting Grand Slam France as the beginning of an exciting chapter for AEW.
“It’s our first day, hand in hand with our Paramount brothers and sisters here at Warner Bros. It’s going to be a great, great future for AEW. And it begins on Tuesday Night Dynamite, Grand Slam tonight,” Khan added.
According to WrestleZone, Warner Bros. Discovery officially completed its merger with Paramount Skydance on October 6, with the combined company operating under the Skydance name.
Despite the corporate changes, there is no immediate indication that AEW’s television arrangement will change. Its existing media rights agreement runs through the beginning of 2028, with an option that could extend the partnership into 2029.
The longer-term effect on AEW’s weekly programming and business remains unclear. Khan, however, made his position clear in Paris: he sees plenty of opportunity ahead.
